New members of Compllex team

During the year 2008 Compllex has recruited significantly its expert team. Veronika Hardtová has become the Associate of Compllex. Veronika is recognised as a renowned expert for financial market regulation. Veronika worked previously for example on a position of a head of the Inspections of investment services providers department at the Securities Commission of the Czech Republic. Besides Compllex has extended the cooperation with a legal adviser (solicitor) Jiří Obršlík. Jiří has very broad experiences with legal service within banking industry as well as one of the world's leading law firm including a year intership in the City of London.

MiFID project of Czech investment services providers

The Czech Banking Association (ČBA), the Czech Capital Market Association of the CR (AKAT), The Association of Funds and Asset Management of the Czech Republic (AFAM ČR) and the Czech Association of Investment firms (ČAOCP) united concerning realisation of the MiFID project. The scope is concept of the clients regime including clients categorization, info-duty towards clients, suitability and appropriateness testing as well as for example published policies. The associations entrusted Compllex with the project realisation.

Financial Derivatives

On October 30 and October 31, 2007, there is special seminar concerning financial derivatives held in the Hotel Diplomat. Jiri Heneberk focuses not only on principles and business practices concerning derivatives but on their actual regulatory development as well. More details here.

Conference MiFID Slovakia

Compllex was glad to accept an invitation of Slovac Asociácia obchodníkov s cennými papiermi with respect to the conference concerning MiFID implementation in Slovac Republic which is held on October 17 - 18, 2007. Among participation in panel discussion Compllex shall lead the seminar Implementation of MiFID step by step during the whole second day of the conference.

Conference Investment banking and capital markets

On October 2 and 3, 2007 in Prague Mariott Hotel was held a conference focusing on actual trends of investment banking and capital market in the Czech Republic. Jiří Heneberk, partner of Compllex, lectured the second day of the conference with respect to industry experiences of qualified investors fund where Compllex has quite unique know-how and practice. On October 4, 2007 as a bonus day took was held by Jiri Heneberk one day workshop focused on investment banking contractual documentation standards.

Summer issue of Compliance Journal

Already within weeks there comes MiFID regulation to member states. The new issue of Compliance Journal tries to highlight business opportunities and challenges which MiFID regulation may enable. Actual issue is available in the section Compliance Journal or directly here.

Real-estate funds semminar

During Real-estate 2007 conference Compllex and REICO investiční společnosti České spořitelny, a.s. lead seminar covering issues of real estate special funds pursuant regulation of the Czech Republic.

MiFID conference

From 22 till 24 May, 2007 there was IIR conference regarding impacts of the Directive 2004/39/EC on markets in financial instruments (MiFID). Specialists of Compllex lead the third day of the conference which is designed as a workshop for successful MiFID implementation. Partner Jiri Heneberk has aslo taken part in a discussion panel.

First specialised real-estate fund

On February 9, 2007 Czech National Bank has granted final licence for ČS nemovitostní fond, otevřený podílový fond REICO investiční společnosti České spořitelny, a.s. (ČS real-estate fund, open end mutual fund of REICO investment company of Česká spořitelna, a.s.). Hereby Compllex finished his appointment of this project which consisted in complete preparation (preparation of all internal documentation, statute, relevant petitions for the Czech National Bank, leading of licence rulings) not only for the fund but also for investment company REICO investiční společnosti České spořitelny, a.s. which is focused on managing of special funds.
ČS nemovitostní fond, otevřený podílový fond REICO investiční společnosti České spořitelny, a.s. is actually the first Czech special real-estate fund.

Seminar Certified Compliance Manager

On March 5 till March 9, 2007 there shall be Certified Compliance Manager training. Compllex is one of the guarantors and leader of the second day of the seminar. Impacts of MiFID in Komerční banka, a.s.

In September 2006 Compllex has succeeded in tender for leadership of Analyses of MiFID impacts in Komerční banka, a.s. and its financial group. Komerční banka, a.s. is hereby one of the first financial institutions which initiates preparations for MiFID even before the end of year 2006.

Compllex has taken a part within public discussion of Ministry of Finance CR concerning intermediary and advisory services on financial market. New seat

Compllex has changed its registered seat. With respect to the development of the company and the aim to be more in touch with our clients Compllex has moved its offices as well as seat by April 1, 2006. The new address is Prague 2 Italská 10/1205 PSČ 120 00. Other contact are subject of no change.

Seminar for ČAOCP

By the end of the March 2006 Compllex leads a seminar for the Czech association of brokerage houses (ČAOCP). The topics of the seminar cover mainly the actualities of regulation, compliance and internal audit of investment services. Invitation of Compllex has accepted Mr. Zdeněk Husták, member of the Czech Securities Commission Presidium responsible mainly for investment services providers, who shall have speech on state supervision integration.

Co-preparation on broker/dealers exams

Compllex takes part on preparation of exam questions regarding new broker/dealers exams organised by AKAT (Association for capital market). These exams are to completely replace the ones organised so-far by the Czech Securities Commission, new exams organised by AKAT should start as soon as financial market supervision integration will be complete.

Compliance Journal winter 2005/2006

Compllex issued new number of Compliance Journal. Main topics focus on new collective investment fund (funds of qualified investors and real-estate funds) and the perspective of financial market regulation after the supervision is integrated into the Czech national bank. Start of external audit services

By the autumn of the year 2005 Compllex has entered into the agreement on external provision of internal audit with the prominent Czech brokerage house. Conditions of outsourcing were also discussed and approved in detail by the Czech Securities Commission.

Repo-operations

Compllex was addressed by the Legislative and legal department of the Czech Securities Commission regarding the process of Presidium's opinion on some issues concerning repo-transactions. The text of memorandum in matter prepared by Compllex's specialists can be find here.

"Package of services concerning customers protection"

Compllex has prepared special offer of compliance services in connection with number of dramatic events that happened on financial market during the summer 2005. We can name mainly initiative of Ministry of Finance with aim to improve the protection of banking services customer, scandal of Swiss fund Helvag offered by the investment intermediaries and another of the investment (broker/dealer) firm. Negotiation of prices for renewable resources

Compllex took part as a financial and legal adviser for Czech society for wind energy during negotiations with the Energetic Regulatory Office regarding the prices for the renewable resources of electric energy. The example of Compllex help in legal issues argumentation can be find here.

Seminar for ČAOCP

Compllex has organized the seminar for ČESKÁ ASOCIACE OBCHODNÍKŮ S CENNÝMI PAPÍRY (CZECH ASSOCIATION OF THE INVESTMENT COMPANIES).

The seminar focused namely on new elements and view of investment services provision especially in the context of EU regulation and BASEL II.

There were also presented appropriate key tools for regulatory risk management.

Investment clubs

Compllex has contributed in public discussion of Czech Securities Commission regarding the question of investment clubs admissibility in CR.
